Australis Noosa Lakes Resort is located on the Queensland Sunshine Coast around an hour north of Brisbane and is situated on the shores of tranquil Lake Doonella and the Noosa River, close to Historic Tewantin. The resort is set on seven landscaped acres with 4 wheelchair accessible beach house style studio apartments and Noosa's largest tropical pool complex. Hastings street is just minutes away by car or enjoy a pleasant ferry ride from the Marina adjacent to the resort.
The Noosa Harbour Marine Village opposite provides great access, with several designated parking bays for people with disabilities, accessible public toilets, cafes, restaurants, art galleries, ferry stop and Sunday markets. The Marine Village is also the starting point for the Tewantin Historic Walk and attractions such as The Big Shell and Noosa Regional Art Gallery. The Council also run open air concerts, art shows and film nights by the river, so check to see if any of these events are planned during your visit.
Great for that holiday getaway, Australis also boasts an accessible conference venue, suitable for large and small events as well as weddings and business functions.

The resort has four ground floor studio apartments that have modified bathrooms and wheelchair access facilities. The apartments all have balconies and overlook the lagoon pools, providing a tropical ambience with the cool water framed by palm fronds.
Each beach house is rented out as two apartments, with the accessible apartment on the ground floor. Access into the apartment is via a ramp from the parking bay, through two keyed doors with lever style handles. The first door opens into a communal foyer and the second directly into the apartment.
The studio rooms are spacious with room to manoeuvre a wheelchair. Features include air conditioning, a queen size bed, small kitchenette, storage cupboards, television and a small table.
The bed is positioned near the balcony with room either side for transfers. Options for moving the bed to provide more room are limited, as the side tables are fixtures.
The bathroom has been adapted for wheelchair and/or shower commode access. Features include:
The kitchenette includes a (wall mounted) microwave, bar fridge and sink. Its suitable for preparing light snacks or enjoying take away from one of the many local cafes who deliver to your door.
The air conditioned reception is welcoming with automatic doors, level entry and an accessible toilet in the foyer. Once inside the staff are very helpful and can assist with bus and ferry timetables and other suggestions for activities you might enjoy. You can also use the guest lounges to wait for a taxi or tour pickup.
Once you have booked in and received the keys there are two options for parking. The undercover parking bay will suit some guests but is not wide enough for a side transfer into a wheelchair. It also has a loose gravel surface which may be difficult for people with limited mobility. Alternatively there is a designated accessible parking spot opposite the units in the general parking area.
The pathways around the resort all all sealed and level. One of the lagoon pools is designed with level entry, although there is no handrail available. Shade is provided by large umbrellas with accessible tables, and there are also accessible bar-b-que facilities.
Most areas of the resort offer good access, however:
Off peak rates range from $140 for a single night to $113 for seven nights or more.
