Access Noosa
sunshine coast access guide
Sunshine Coast Supported Holidays is a private company offering quality supported holidays and travel options for adults with intellectual and learning disabilities or acquired brain injury on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. They were established in 2001 and are based in Noosa Heads.
Holidays are run in groups ranging in size from six to forty clients, depending on holiday demand, and are about access to quality leisure resources and the benefits gained from social interaction.
Level of support provided is one holiday facilitator to three holiday guests. However, many holidays have a higher ratio of holiday facilitators to allow flexibility in catering for specific interests and activities. One-to-one or one-to-two support is also available on some holidays for people who are reliant on a wheelchair or have higher support needs.
All holiday facilitators have skills in assisting people with disabilities and are rewarded for the professional and integral role they play. It is challenging work with consequent high expectations. Volunteers and students, whilst welcome to participate as observers and occasional helpers, are not engaged as holiday facilitators. Holiday facilitators are contracted on a mutual obligation basis and are required to sign confidentiality agreements. All facilitators undergo police checks. First aid and driving qualifications are upgraded regularly.
