Putting it all together - Home telephone solutions
Annabel Gregory, Computer Access Specialist,
Regency Park Rehabilitation Engineering.
This poster will provide a visual demonstration of the possibilities for telephone access for people with a wide range of physical, cognitive and communication impairments. With appropriate accessories an infrared or speaker phone can be used by people who want big buttons, large photos for speed dialling, access using voice commands, single button access, switch scanning control. It is also possible to use your AAC device to dial a telephone - both high-end devices with infrared output and even simple recorded speech devices can be used to make a phone call.
The number of possible combinations can seem almost infinite and is often daunting for families, therapists or others who are supporting a person with a disability. This poster will present some tools to simplify this process and help guide users through the maze of possible combinations.
