Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities Inc

Australia and New Zealand

2009 National Conference

Starting on the Future Now!

Overview

How service delivery organisations are preparing for the consumers of tomorrow while maintaining viable service orientation for the users of today.

As we come towards the end of the first decade of the 21st century, service organisations that provide accessibility to information for people with print disabilities are managing the future in a variety of ways.

This diversity includes new product development, innovative technology, new service delivery models, expanded networking and relationship management, and increased social value creation strategies. Private, public, government and not-for-profit organisations realise the critical importance in preparing for the future now.

Equally critical is continuing to provide a viable service delivery to the people organisations serve at present. Accessing information is one of the major barriers facing people with print disabilities. The number of people with a print disability will also rise over the next decade with the increase in the aging population. How are the private, public, government and not-for-profit sectors currently providing and planning for future service orientation from the educational, vocational, informational and recreational perspectives?

The conference showcased what service delivery organisations were researching, developing, and implementing for the future, while still maintaining the vital perspective of delivering the service needed for today. It provided service delivery organisations an excellent opportunity to present their leading edge perspectives, interested organisations to gain knowledge on how to provide increased service excellence to the vision impaired community, and users to understand and discuss the latest thinking and actions in starting on the future now.
