Production guidelines
The Round Table has produced a number of guidelines and standards on the production of materials in alternate formats. These guidelines should be used by anyone producing alternate formats to ensure quality and usability for those for whom the material is intended.

- As new guidelines are produced and existing guidelines updated they are available free or charge in an electronic format to Round Table members via the Member login section of this web site. All other guidelines are available at the cost indicated below.
- Cost - Non-members
- Electronic copies of guidelines are only available to Round Table members. Non members are encouraged to purchase a hard copy of the guidelines at the price indicated below.
Guidelines for the Preparation of Text Material (1995) - $22
Guidelines for the production of textual materials for people with print disabilities.
Australian Braille Chemistry Notation - $22
Produced by the Australian Braille Authority Standing Committee on mathematics, Science and Computer Science for use in the transcription of chemistry material into Braille.
Guidelines for the Formatting of Braille material (1995) - $22
Guidelines prepared by the Australian Braille Authority for transcribers of Braille material to ensure uniformity without too much rigidity within the Braille environment.
Examination Guidelines for students with vision impairments (1995) - $22
Guidelines for teachers, examiners and examination boards to minimize any possible disadvantage imposed on students with a print disability in sitting for examinations.
Guidelines on Narration of Visual information in student and vocational material (1995) - $22
To assist in preparation of audio descriptions of visual information (graphs, diagrams, tables, maps, flowcharts etc).
Guidelines for the Production of Large Print (1996) - $22
Basic guidelines for producing computer generated and photo enlarged materials for people with low vision. Includes equipment and paper selection, binding and storage.
Sound Advice (1994) - $33
Guidelines for the production of audio materials for people with print disabilities covering equipment, narration, technical aspects of production, labelling, packaging, audio indexing, copyright.
NEW: Guidelines for Conveying Visual Information - $99
In response to the increasing prevalence and importance of non-text information in print material, the Round Table developed the Guidelines for Conveying Visual Information. This document is intended as a reference tool for producers of alternative format materials, providing information about best practice in the use of verbalisations and tactile diagrams. It provides general guidelines about the presentation of non-text elements but most of the document deals with specific examples such as photographs, cartoons, flow charts and science diagrams. Detailed verbalisations are included, as well as print representations of tactile diagrams.
