Phase 2 - Intervention.
Intervention focuses on building the individual's communicative competence for example, learning how to use AAC system(s) for communication, learning how to interact effectively with others, learning how to repair communication breakdowns etc.
Intervention also focuses on developing the skills of the communication partner for example, how to communicate with the individual effectively, how to use the AAC systems and how to encourage the individual who uses AAC to communicate. Each person on the team would have had a contributing role in the assessment process and will play an important role in achieving the identified needs. So, after the assessment process a team meeting will occur where the assessment findings will be discussed and the decision of appropriate communication systems will be made. This meeting will be critical, as effective and efficient intervention requires a team effort where everybody agrees with and is motivated to implement the identified communication goals and strategies.
